Have you always wanted to contribute to blogs dealing with your area of interests? Do you enjoy guest posting? Are there times where you send in these posts, but the webmaster sends you a cold rejection letter in return? It hurts, doesn’t it? Don’t take those rejections too personally! Whether or not the webmaster made it clear: your guest post usually MUST fit a very specific niche of the blog you are writing for. There are certain tips you can follow to make sure published consistently. I have provided 3 fool proof tips below to help you avoid those nasty rejection letters!

Emulate Other Writing Styles

Look at previous posts to check for writing style. Are writers using their opinions? Are the posts verbose or simply written? How long are they? Some of this information can be found in the guidelines of the blog, but you need to look at previous posts as well. By reading at least 5 of the previously written pieces, you can get a better idea of how to tweak your own writing style to fit the particular blog.

Use Search Engine on the Blog

In order to ensure that you are writing something original for the blog in question, make sure to use the blog’s search engine! Type in key words you would like to write about. For example, if you want to write about different types of student loans, type in student loans, student financial aid, and other related words or phrases. One of the most common mistakes guest writers make is feeding the webmaster with unoriginal material! That will lead to a definite rejection!

Pitch Your Idea Before You Write it!

Most webmasters accept emails from guest posters. If this is the case for the blog you plan to write for, email the webmaster BEFORE you start writing. You need to find out if the owner of the blog would actually be interested in publishing the topic you plan to write about. Writing two or three sentences about your plan and interest in the blog would greatly benefit you! You will save time, as you don’t want to send in a 500 word post that has no chance of getting published!
