One of the most frustrating things that can considerably affect a guest blogger is a troublesome webmaster. The latter can actually be a frustration in many distinct ways, and most guest bloggers can easily identify them.

Unfortunately, because there is no easy way to identify the characteristics of the webmaster you are dealing with, it is often through real experience that you will know which webmasters to avoid. However, whether or not you’ve decided that you do not want to lose your time with a particular webmaster, it is still important to know how to deal with them.

Dealing with annoying webmasters is often seen as a major source of frustration for many guest bloggers. However, it is necessary that you deal with them appropriately. This is particularly true because your reputation is often more important as a guest blogger. While a webmaster can pretty much do whatever he wants and still carry on as if nothing happened, the guest blogger’s biggest tool is his reputation. With his reputation gone, he will often find it hard to write for quality blogs.

A great deal of patience is obviously needed when you are dealing with a webmaster who’s coincidentally decided that he wants to be a jerk. When dealing with a webmaster that you may deem unresponsive, you should take into consideration that his late replies may not be entirely his fault. As such, always allow some time before sending a follow-up email. A good waiting period is one week. Considering that a webmaster does need to be online quite often, a one-week wait is often more than sufficient. However, before you attempt to send any further email, make sure you first check his blog as he may simply be on vacation. A reliable webmaster will always notify his regular audience if he is too busy to attend to his email backlog.

As you start establishing contacts to publish your guest posts, it is inevitable that you will have to deal with your content being rejected. Many webmasters will be nice about it, but some may not do so in a politically correct way. In these cases, simply acknowledge their reply and move on to finding another webmaster to contact. Running around to rant about him on your Twitter or Facebook profile may sound like a good idea, but could easily backfire on you. As such, even if your content does not pass the approval process, simply thank the webmaster for his time without resorting to petty names or insults.
